This historic marker was erected by the Hunterdon County Cultural and Heritage Commission. It is located just opposite the current Bull's Island State Park. During the time of the Revoutionary War, the tavern owner provided ferry service across the Delaware to Lumberville PA. Today park visitors can bicycle or hike along a trail which was formerly the towpath for the Delaware Canal. In additon, there is a pedestrain bridge linking Bull's Island to Lumberville, PA.
