Edelweisspitze is the highest point on the Grossglockner High Alpine Road with a majestic panoramic view to more than thirty 3 000 m peaks of Hohe Tauern Mts. (coaches are prohibited on the around 2km Edelweiss Road). On the top of Edelweisspitze observation tower you can find these two orientation panels describing the vista over peaks of Hohe Tauern Mts. and the geology of the area.
Since 1935 the Großglockner Hochalpenstraße (Grossglockner High Alpine Road) has played host to more than 50 million visitors. It is the most famous of all European alpine roads and terminates at the highest mountain and the largest glacier in Austria, the Grossglockner (3798 m).
