The train service from Pattaya to Bangkok, starting south of Pattaya in Rayong, is little used. The train (~3.5 hours) is slower than a bus or car (~2 hours), and is something of a hang over from times past, however, it does make a number of local stops, which makes it of interest to locals, and there is occasional train enthusiast (and of course, the waymarker).
The Pattaya station is clean and well maintained, but has seating for no more than a dozen people, with only a tiny food and drink stand (a table). I did not see the train, but have been told that it is not a large service.
