This crossing Over the Klamath river was first make 1/2 mile north of this sign without a ferry the party was led by Captain Levi Scott in 1846. The ferry was established here in 1886 to make the crossing easier. This trail was the first southern route from Idaho thru Nevada and California into Oregon.

Why?:
Early Wagon trains and settlers used this trail as an alternate to the more difficult nothern route to Oregon.
Directions:
Use route 66 between Klamath Falls and Ashland Oregon.
