Whitebaiting is a very popular endeavour during the New Zealand spring. Here, along the Aparima River there are whitebaiters shack every few metres and tucked in amongst them is this van. Obviously no longer in use but most likely was used as a whitebaiters shack.
There is no damage on the van and there is no road or track leading up to it. It is 10 metres (30 feet) below the general area and the only way it could have got to where it is via water.
The whitebaiters shacks are all on public land, or if it is private land, it accessible for the whitebaiters and the public to access the dozens and dozens of shacks that line the lower Aparima.
