ST. JAMES EPISCOPAL CHURCH, NE. corner Church and Convention Sts., is a red brick Gothic structure almost completely covered by ivy.  The intricate panels behind the altar were carved by the Reverend J.S. Tucker, D.D., rector of the church from 1899 to 1906 - Louisiana: A Guide to the State, 1941, Baton Rouge section, pg. 261.

The church continues to serve its Episcopal congregation.  The building is no longer ivy covered.  Church Street is know known as 4th Street.
