The inscription on the monument reads,
"Sacred to the memory of the Confederate soldiers from Gadsden County Florida who died in the defense of their country.
On fame's eternal camping ground their silent tents are spread, and glory guards with solemn round the bivouac of the dead.
Erected by the Ladies of the Memorial Association of Gadsden County Florida.
April 26, 1884"
