Located only a few miles east of Brookings, South Dakota, Aurora is a small bedroom community with a population of 471 as of July 2008. This is a 6% decrease from the 2000 census.
People who settled this town were made up of German, Norwegian, Irish, Dutch, and Swedish ancestries.
The bell is located about 50 yards south of the church in a small park near a Veterans Memoral.
