Harlan Sanders started pumping gas across the street, to take advantage of the traffic along the Dixie Highway. Besides the restaurant, he also built a nearby motor court(motel). Additionally, the facility houses a museum to the Colonel and his operations. Includes mock-ups of the original restaurant, a room from the motor court, and the kitchen where the recipe was developed.
Very close to the interstate and along the Dixie Highway, this makes for an interesting stop on your route.
