The
I.O.O.F. section of York's Greenwood Cemetery has the graves of those who died while residents of the Nebraska State Odd Fellows Home which was located south of Nobes Road southwest of York. A June 30, 2001 York News-Times article notes the home was closed in 1976.
The graves are in order by date of death, with the oldest dated stone in the northwest corner of the section. The stones are set flush with the ground, and are uniform. There are three major styles. The oldest stones are reddish granite with the names and dates raised; the next oldest are reddish granite with names and dates incised; even more recent ones are a gray stone with names and dates incised.
The gallery photos include one stone of each style, along with examples of some newer, more ornate stones that appear to be for local residents who were members of Odd Fellows.
This section of Greenwood Cemetery has an entrance off of west 12th Street, and can also be reached by driving straight north from the main Greenwood Cemetery entrance.
