The Museum of Political History opened in 1994 and is maintained by the Louisiana Secretary of State. The museum is located in the restored former state capitol building. The museum maintains a collections artifacts and documents related to the political history of Louisiana. The museum has extensive collection of items related to former Governor and Senator Huey Long including the gun used to kill him. The building itself is a site to visit, the Gothic Revival styled building has the appearance of a castle.
