This disk certainly looks like a benchmark of some kind, but it has very markings and no notations like this associated with other benchmarks. The disk says only:

ELEV. 660.05

Beneath this there appears to be an X.

The disk is embedded on a slab of concrete a couple feet in diameter. It may have been initially placed elsewhere and moved here at a later date. Currently it is sitting just on the right side of Trail 4 just past the trailhead in Charlestown State Park.

The park is on land that until recently was part of the Indiana Army Ammunitions Plant. It's possible that this benchmark was set up by the military.
