Took the category challenge; walked three blocks to the
York News-Times. Got a bad photo because I was shooting into the sun at 5:00 pm Thursday Aug. 27, 2009. It will do for now.
Crossed the street, marked the spot on eTrex, went to the side door to try the old "snapshot of a reflection" trick. Passable.
But wait!! Irene Duncan is working on the weekend edition & asks what's happening. So I explain waymarking.com & the newspaper HQ category. Irene offers to take the "real me" photo, and if it all works out, we'll have a feature story about the library & waymarking in a few days. Three cheers for home town small town newspapers. Phooey to far-n-away.com.
The York News-Times is currently owned by the Omaha World-Herald Company. Kilgore Memorial Library has a microfilm back file of the News-Times and other newspapers formerly published in York, and has done some indexing of back issues.
