This ghost town, once known as Argonne, is located in north-central Miner County, South Dakota.

At one time, several businesses thrived in this community, but all that's left today are the concrete vault of a former bank, a grain silo, and the sign depicting the location of the town.

As with any small community, it had a difficult time competing with the county seat, Howard, and Carthage, only a few miles away.

When the population declined so much that the school closed, the town was in its death throes, and people left for greener pastures.

The town streets are barely visible anymore and it would be wise to travel them in a pickup, rather than a car.
