Welcome To AT&T Field
New Name and Logo for Home of Chattanooga Lookouts
Chattanooga, Tennessee, March 15, 2007
The home of the Chattanooga Lookouts has a new name and a new look. AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) and the Lookouts today announced that AT&T Field will be home to Chattanooga's Southern League team. Local elected officials joined representatives from AT&T and the Looksouts to unveil the new name and logo, which reflect the merger between AT&T and BellSouth Corp. New stadium signage will be installed before the team's home opener on April 11.
"AT&T has a strong heritage of giving back to the communities we serve," said David Scobey, president and CEO, AT&T Southeast. "We're thrilled that AT&T Field will serve as a focal point for family entertainment in Chattanooga. We are pleased by our association with the Lookouts, and we eagerly anticipate opening day."
"It's great for Chattanooga and for the Lookouts to have such a high-profile association with one of the world's largest and most respected companies," said Frank Burke, president and general manager of the Chattanooga Lookouts. "AT&T Field properly conveys baseball tradition and the family-oriented focus of our team. We look forward to working with our friends from AT&T, and we anticipate a smooth transition to AT&T Field."
Formerly BellSouth Park, AT&T Field is a privately funded facility. The 6,100-seat stadium opened in April 2000. In addition to serving as home of the Lookouts, AT&T Field hosts other local community events, including the HeartWalk and the Choo-Choo-Challenge bike race.
"BellSouth Park has become a community landmark," said Chattanooga Mayor Ron Littlefield. "The renaming underscores that the new AT&T is continuing the tradition of local community involvement, and we look forward to that ongoing relationship."
"We're glad to know that while the corporation's name has changed, being a good corporate citizen remains a top priority," said Claude Ramsey, mayor of Hamilton County. "The commitment to Chattanooga and Hamilton County shown by renaming AT&T Field is a welcome indicator of continued corporate support for this community."
AT&T Field is AT&T's fifth naming-rights venue. Others include AT&T Park in San Francisco, AT&T Center in San Antonio, AT&T Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City and Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock, Texas.
