From the historical plaque in the photo gallery:

On August 6, 1918, this dumping scow broke loose from its towing tug about 1.6 kilometers (1 mile) upriver, with Gustave F. Lofberg and James F. Harris aboard. The men opened the bottom dumping doors and the scow grounded in the shallow rapids. They were rescued the next day by breeches buoy, on a line shot out from the roof of the adjacent powerhouse.

Ironically and amusingly, we visited this site on the 91st anniversary of the event.

Type of Boat: Barge

Military or Civilian: Civilian

Accessibility:
You can see it from the Park on the Ontario side. It seems highly dangerous and stupid to go there.

Diving Permitted: no

Floating over a site does not qualify as a find if it is a wreck that requires diving - you must have actually visited the site - therefore photos of the site are good.
