Las Islas Cíes forman parte del Parque Nacional Marítimo Terrestre de las Islas Atlánticas de Galicia, constituyendo así un enclave privilegiado para la observación de ciertas aves marinas, algunas residentes y otras invernantes o de paso en sus migraciones. Son extraordinariamente comunes la gaviota patiamarilla (Larus michaehellis) o el cormorán moñudo (Phalacrocorax aristotelis), que forman grandes colonias. Menos frecuentes son la gaviota sombría (Larus fuscus), el paíño europeo (Hydrobates pelagicus), cormorán grande (Phalacrocorax carbo), alcatraz (Morus bassanus) o el alca común (Alca torda).

Puesto que se encuentra en una isla, concretamente en la Isla del Faro, la única forma de acceder es en barco partiendo de Vigo, Baiona o Cangas.

Cies Islands are part of the Parque Nacional Marítimo Terrestre de las Islas Atlánticas de Galicia, providing a privileged area for the observation of certain seabirds, some residents and other wintering or passing on their migrations. Are extremely common yellow-legged gull (Larus michaehellis) and european shag (Phalacrocorax Aristotelis), which form large colonies. Less frequent are the Lesser black-backed gull (Larus fuscus), the european storm-petrel (Hydrobates pelagicus), great cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo) northern gannet ( Morus bassanus ) or razorbill (Alca torda).

Since it is an island, in the island of Faro, the only form of access is by boat from Vigo, Baiona and Cangas.
