This trig point has been removed. In its location is a survey mark and a plaque with the name of the original trig station. Black mnt Trig.
A car park and road is located next to this point. The trig station was probably removed to allow for the road when the area was redeveloped for the tower.
Black Mountain is located just West of Canberra’s central business district and is surrounded by natural bush land that is protected as part of Canberra’s Nature parks.
Just near the trig point is Black Mountain Tower (Telstra Tower). This is a telecommunications tower owned and operated by Telstra. A public viewing platform is located a third of the way up. An entrance fee is payable.
Several free viewing platforms are located around the car park. These offer extensive views of central Canberra and surrounds.
At the eastern foot of Black Mountain is the National botanic Gardens.
Access by car can be gained by following Black mountain drive just off Clunies Ross street beside the National botanic Gardens.
