At the beginning of the 20th century, Wilkingsburg had over 20 churches in a small area of town, and thus was nicknamed "Holy City".
This church, now called Mulberry Presbyterian Church, is across the street from the older (and larger) Methodist Episcopal Church.
Today, the economically-distressed town is inhabited by low-income families. Many buildings and residences are abandoned.
