When King Edward I began constructing Caernarfon Castle in 1283, he intended it to be the royal residence for northern Wales.
In 1284, he arranged a tour of construction activities just to make sure that his son (Edward II) was born here and proclaimed to be the first English Prince of Wales.
Construction halted in 1323 which left the castle unfinished - and remains so to this day.
Caernarfon Castle regained status as a regal setting when the castle hosted the investiture of HRH Prince Charles as Prince of Wales in 1969,

Localized waymark sites (Structures, Landmarks, Businesses) should reflect standard waymarking visit criteria (Logs & photos).
