There's a little for everyone in Santa Cruz. For thrill seekers you can ride the Big Dipper at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. The roller coaster is one of the world's oldest and is made of wood. At the Beach Boardwalk, there are other rides, and they're all a la carte (You pay per ride).
For people who want to relax, head to the main beach in front of the Beach Boardwalk. Here you can surf, take a walk on the sandy beach, play some beach volleyball or just soak up the sun.
For historical buffs, there's the Santa Cruz Mission around Mission Park. Here you can see a replica of the old Santa Cruz Mission or visit the Santa Cruz Mission State Historical Park.
Finally to eat some fish, head the the municipal pier. Just a few minutes walk from the Beach Boardwalk, the pier is lined with fish houses where you can chow on some fresh fish or scallops. Also at you pier you can alway pick up some knick knacks and souvenirs.
