Through an agreement with the Colorado Springs Parks and Recreation Department in 1989, the stone building was moved from its location on South Nevada Avenue to the entrance of North Cheyenne Cañon, 3 miles away. It then became the visitor center and the focal point for a wide variety of activities that people visit today. The McDonalds is still there, too.
