From the
Tasty Florida website:
Zeno’s Boardwalk Sweet Shop has a fabulous back story behind that giant taffy puller in the window. This sweet shop came about thanks to a Greek immigrant who left Thessoliniki and made his way to Daytona Beach. He opened up this confectionery in 1948 along the entrance to the Main St Pier and passed it on to his nephew, Zeno, who took over at age 21 and has since passed it on to his son. Their chocolates come from homemade recipes, handed down through the family; they make their own fudge and delectable candy creations, including the tasty caterpillar—several marshmallows poked on a skewer and swirled in caramel—and pecan balls. They also make their own ice cream, and are now wholesaling it to others—including Angell & Phelps. Flavors tempt just by name, with cake batter, caramel caribou, mud pie, and death by chocolate in the freezer when we visited. Trust me, you cannot leave this shop with succumbing to your sweet tooth.

When we entered the shop, we were welcomed by the friendly staff and immediately offered our pick of free piece each of taffy. The Biologist chose the Cookie Dough taffy and the Marine chose the Chocolate. Yummy! We ended up buying two of each kind and eating them on the drive home to Jacksonville. They were absolutely delicious! We were particularly amazed at how the Buttered Popcorn flavor really tasted like buttered popcorn. No dinner for us tonight!
