Born in Monroe and after attending Wake Forest College and The University of North Carolina he moved to Louisburg in 1895 where he married Fannie Yarborough in 1898 before being elected as a state representative in 1907. Bickett Boulevard, the main thoroughfare in Louisburg, is named for him.
The grave site is located at the town of Louisburg's municipal-owned Oakwood Cemetery. (visit link)
