This area of Yomitan is spotted with many Kilns just like the one pictured here. It is still used but not on any type of schedule that we could figure. There are also many little shops in the area to purchase the wares fired in these kilns.
Just up the road there is also a glass blowing factory, that is quite enjoyable to watch as well.
