Revolutionary, Surveyor General of Vermont, land speculator (several towns in Vermont are named for him), youngest brother of Ethan Allen. Founder of the University of Vermont on land he donated.

Bronze on a granite base, sculpted by Sherry Edmundson Fry in 1921, standing appropriately on the University Green, which is ten acres of land he specified should remain undeveloped.
