USCGS CG2 1971, New Jersey, is a US Coast and Geodetic Survey tidal station disk mounted flush in the top of the curb near the southwest end of the US Highway 9 bridge over Great Egg Harbor Bay, near the Tuckahoe Inn in the Beeseley’s Point section of Upper Township, Cape May County, NJ. The station is 68.6 feet northeast of station NJGS 5 A 2 2000, 45.3 feet west of wood utility pole number 77-09163, 20.3 feet west-northwest of the centerline of US Highway 9, 3.12 feet southwest from a storm drain inlet, and about two feet southeast of a metal guardrail. The disk was monumented by the US Coast and Geodetic Survey in 1971 and documented for inclusion in the National Spatial Reference System by the New Jersey Geodetic Survey in 2000. It is stamped CG 2 1971 and is in the National Geodetic Survey database at PID = AM6970 (
visit link) . To reach the station from the Garden State Parkway, take Exit 25 to County Road 623 (Roosevelt Blvd) westbound. Go northwest on County Road 623 for about 0.30 miles to the intersection with US Highway 9. Turn right and go northeast on US Highway 9 for about 1.90 miles to the barriers at the southwest end of the closed bridge, the Tuckahoe Inn on the right and the station on the left, a few feet southwest of the jersey wall barrier across the highway. Note, there is no approach from the north on US Highway 9 as the US Highway 9 bridge over Great Egg Harbor Bay is closed.
