At 41.9 m. State 2 crosses the Connecticut River on the French King Bridge, a maginificent structure about 750 feet in length, named for the French King Rock, visible in midstream. From its height of 140 feet the bridge commands a fine view of the river valley and the surrounding countryside.
From Massachusetts: A Guide to Its Places and People, 1937

Today the French King Bridge is still located over the Connecticut River, still 750' in length, and still 140' tall. Mostly it still provides an awesome view of the river valley and the surrounding area.
