BILLINGS STOCKYARDS (212 pens), entrance at 1st Ave. N. and N. 10th St., cover 7 1/2 acres. Here, amid the dust and smell of auction day, the shrill yells of punchers and the shouts of buyer and seller rise above the bawling of cattle and the startled snorting of horses as the herds are hustled through long rows of corrals and chutes. As many as 3,000 cattle and 500 horses have been shipped out in one day. - Montana: A State Guide Book, 1939, Billings Section, pg. 134.
The Billings stockyards are no longer located at this location. The stockyards are now located east of Billings. Some remains of stockyards can be seen to south of the rail road tracks behind the buildings at this location. The site is now used for some type of Pennzoil distribution center.
