This is currently the Ames Municipal Building. Previously, It was the community High School. The previous City Hall is now the Youth & Shelter Services Building at the corner 5th & Kellogg (see Belitsos Family Fountain). The current City Hall/Munincipal Building now houses all but 1 of the city departments which had previously been scattered all over town in various rented office spaces. Planning, Zoning, City Council Chambers, Court Room, Clerk of Court, Utilities, Police, City Administration are all now conveniently located in one building at 515 Clark Street. The only City Department that isn't located there is Parks & Rec which keeps it main offices at the Gateway Hils Park Office. The facility at 515 Clark has a Gynasium/Auditorium which is used daily for exercise classes & still occassionally used for theater & music presentations.
