The bandstand located in Gore Park, is a reminder of the centre of entertainment in a small town in the early 1900's.
It was build in 1912 by A.M. Bowman, from a design prepared by members of the Elmira Musical Society.
The bandstand was historically designated in 1985.
It was restored as a project to celebrate Elmira's centennial in 1988 and was supported by Kiwanis Club of Elmira, Inc. The project included a new roof, floor and cross railings, and a new coat of paint.
