On this site in 1952, the lay people of the South Georgia Confrence of the Methodist Church erected the Asbury Lodge, originally named the Laymen's Lodge. It was dedicated and renamed the Asbury Lodge in 1955. For over 53 years, the Asbury Lodge provided thousands of God's people a safe and comfortable place to rest and renew their spirits
