To reach the mark from Kekaha, go northwest on Highway 50 (Kaumualii Highway) for about 10 km (6 miles) until it ends. Bear right at the fork and go northeast on Kiko Road for 0.8 km (0.5 miles) to the first dirt road on the left. Turn left and go north on the dirt road for 5.3 km (3.3 miles) to a large monkeypod tree. Turn left and go southwest for about 0.3 km (0.2 miles) to the beach. Go southwest on Polihale Beach for about 0.2 km (0.1 miles) to the mark.

The mark is a US Army Corps of Engineers disk, stamped "MK 56 1987 67TH ENGR DET", set in a concrete slab.
