"Chesilhurst, 36.7 m. (120 alt., 298 pop.), a few houses along the road, is the center of a truck-farming district. On Wild Cat Branch is a modern cranberry bog." --- New Jersey, a Guide to Its Present and Past, 1939; page 599
The cranberry bog is gone and there is not too much industry to speak of in this small town. From experience, I would wager their tax base is based on speeding tickets and other traffic violations. This town has the reputation of giving tickets if you sneeze in the wrong direction. I have waymarked and geocached around this area and have never been made to feel welcome either by local residents or by the police. The posted coordinates are for the northern most boundary line.
