This tank is located in the block formed by Main St, Kirby St, 6th St, and 7th St in dowtown West Point, VA. The tank itself is a benchmark (intersection station, PID = GV4890) and another benchmark disk is positioned at the base of the northeast leg (PID = GV0237). Several other benchmarks in the area are readily accessible.

Just to the south, the Mattaponi & Pamunkey Rivers converge to form the York River.
