This siren is marked as SC-07 at the base.

Southern California Edison, which operates the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS), maintains the siren system for the cities of Dana Point, San Clemente and San Juan Capistrano, the counties of San Diego and Orange, the California Department of Parks and Recreation and the Marine Corps base at Camp Pendleton.

When activated, the sirens sound a continuous steady tone that distinguishes them from fire and police sirens. The siren system is used by local government officials to notify the public to turn on radio and TV stations and listen for important public safety announcements "in the unlikely event of a nuclear emergency requiring public action," according to SCE. The system can also be used by local governments to inform residents of other non-nuclear emergency conditions.
