Commanded by James Butler, the Pittsburgh Blues was a company of sixty volunteers that fought in the war of 1812. They were formed in Aug 1812, and returned home in 1813. The company had two killed and five wounded.

Inventorized as: "One metal sundial on a stone base, dedicated May 1914 to the Pittsburgh Blues of the War of 1812 by the Dolly Madison Chapter, U.S. Daughters of 1812, is located on the grounds of the SFM. It was rededicated there on May 9, 1941. "
