The Hyde Memorial Observatory opened to the public in 1977 and is totally volunteer operated with most of the volunteer from the Prairie Astronomy Club. The observatory has a retractable roof and has 4 telescopes including a solar telescope, a 8 inch telescope, a 12.5 inch telescope and a 14 inch telescope. The observatory is open to the public on Saturday nights, hours by season.
