The Cocoon Tower is located in the skyscraper district of Shinjuku, Tokyo. It's 668 feet tall, 50 stories, and was constructed in 2008; the building is listed as the second tallest educational building in the world. The google map satellite photos still shows a raw construction site.
Designed by the Tange Associates architecture firm, the building is home to the Mode Gakuen vocational school; its cocoon shape symbolizes the nuturing role the building has for its students. The building is made of aluminum and dark blue-green glass, curved in an oval shape, with criss-crossed trim; a truely unique and beautiful structure.
