The state park includes desert, dune, prairie, lake and marsh habitat with opportunities to observe nocturnal species. Feel free to climb but no vehicles are allowed on the dunes. A visitor center offers information on birds of prey, insects, fossils, wildlife and sand dunes and gift items for purchase. Two cabins are available for rent. Also 82 campsites are available serviced with water/electricity and 16 standard sites. Bruneau Dunes has one of the longest camping seasons in Idaho's system. Campers often start coming in March and continue to enjoy the park's warm weather late into the fall. Shade trees and shelters are abundant in the campground. The park has an elevation of 2,470 feet. The park also offers a public observatory open for public viewings on Friday and Saturday nights at dusk from Mid-March through October, weather permitting (one of only two public observatories in Idaho). The park has a five mile hiking trail with breathtaking views. The nearest town is Bruneau, but they don't have much, and you should go to Mountain Home for any services. The park is open year round. Don't forget to do the other waymark, two geocaches, and earthcache here.
