"DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1970 (LS) THE STATION WAS RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION AND IS A 120-FOOT-HIGH STEEL TANK, USED FOR WATER STORAGE, MOUNTED ON A 4-LEGGED STEEL TOWER, WEST OF AND ADJACENT TO THE RYDE HOTEL AT THE VILLAGE OF RYDE AND ABOUT 70 YARDS WEST OF STATE HIGHWAY 160. THE TANK WAS BUILT IN 1927, IS PAINTED ALUMINUM WITH THE WORDS RYDE HOTEL LETTERED IN BLACK ON THE SIDES, AND HAS A CONICAL ROOF WITH A BALL AT THE APEX. AIRLINE DISTANCE AND DIRECTION FROM NEAREST TOWN--AT RYDE"
