Located in west-central Beadle County, South Dakota, on US Highway 281, Wolsey has a population of 381, as of July 2007. This is a 10% decrease from the 2000 census.
The town was incorporated on April 7, 1883, and is made up of German, Norwegian, Irish, Welsh and English ancestries.
Wolsey is a nice, little community with a very nice park in the center of town. Its business community includes American Bank and Trust, The Travel Center, and Dakota Sportsman's Lodge.
The town is about 15 minutes from Huron, the County Seat of Beadle County.
Wolsey celebrated its 125th in 2008.
