Following its use as a schoolhouse the building was a township storage building until 1976 when the Hardyston Heritage Society was allowed to renovate the building. On August 12, 1977 the building was designated a National Historic Landmark. It was opened for tours as of 1980.
The school is open between 1 and 4 pm on the first Sunday of the months of June through September. It is also opened by arrangement for school group visits. There is a parking area about 1/10 mile away on the same road. There is a picnic facility at this area as well.
The Hardyston Heritage Society link below has a great historical photo of the school in use.
