Federation Hut sits on Mount Feathertop.
Federation Hut sits at an Elevation of about 1700 meters and there is no way to drive to the hut.
The original Federation Hut was burnt down and then later rebuilt. The new Federation Hut provides a better emergancy shelter and a more modern day looking hut.
To walk to Federation Hut there are to popular tracks, the first is the Razorback Ridge witch is 8.5kms to the summit but about 7kms to Federation Hut. the secound is the Bungalo Spur which starts at Hariotville and winds 10.5kms up behind Federation Hut.
In winter Federation Hut and the camping places around it will be covered in snow more than a metre deep. Do not expect there to be sleeping placed inside Federation Hut, always pack a tent. Remeber Federation Hut is a relaxation Hut and only provides emergancy shelter from alpine storms and blizzards.
