The USS Randolph was in service between 1944 and 1969. The ship and her crew served with distinction surviving kamikazi attacks in the Pacific Theater during WWII. Later the ship played a role in the country's space program assisting in the recovery of astronauts Gus Grissom and John Glenn following their space flights.
