Bendigo is the most famouse mining town in the world. A lady back in the 18 centuary was washing her clothes in the bendigo creek when she suddenly spotted a huge gold nugget under the water. People kept finding more and more gold in the creek which triggered the world famouse gold rush. People from all over the world would come to Bendigo to search for gold to try build up a fortune. sooner rather than later gold mines and poppit heads started work. The central Deborah Gold Mine was one of the first to be constructed during the gold rush. Bendigo now has a population of over 100,000 people making it the 3rd biggest city in Victoria and it still has mines operating to this day.!!
