The Brit Spaugh Zoo was founded in 1952, this free Zoo is one of Great Bend's biggest attractions. The Zoo is dedicated to the conservation, preservation and rescue of animals and the education and entertainment of children and adults. It is home to over 100 mammals, birds, reptiles, and insects. From elegant tigers to regal lions, the Zoo shelters and preserves animals and gives visitors a chance to observe and learn about the natural world.
Brit Spaugh Park - North Main Street from 19th Street to 24th Street. Included in the 46-acre park area: new aquatic center (admission charged), shelter houses with grills and picnic tables, a variety of playground equipment, a skate park, MBX bike park, basketball courts, tennis courts, 2 lighted softball fields (one with covered grandstand and concession stands), little league field, lighted horseshoe pits, and restrooms.
