Reported to be the oldest caboose in Oregon this SP caboose was built in 1907.

SP # 573 was in service until 1965 when it was donated to the Toledo Jaycees to be used as a meeting hall. In 1996 it was acquired by the Yaquina Pacific Railroad Historical Society which promptly began restoration. The caboose is now used as an office and information center. It is interesting to note that the trucks used on this caboose are from 1953 and were manufactured in Sacramento.
