This is a real nice memorial located at the city park. It is dedicated only to the Civil War, and no other conflicts. It looks as though it is kept up very well. The only "modern" item associated with the monument is a union soldier made out of metal that is errected close by.
At the base of the memorial the following is chiseled into the stone:
Side 1: To perpetuate the memories of our fallen Heroes, whos lives were sacrificed in The Great Southern Rebellion.
Side 2: Erected by Friends of the Federal Soldiers.
Side 3: Completed Oct 18th, A.D. 1867 and of the U.S. Independence the 91st year.
Side 4: Projected October 18th A.D. 1866
Date Installed or Dedicated: 10/18/1867
Name of Government Entity or Private Organization that built the monument: Friends of the Federal Soldiers
