This cemetery is in the middle of the Mount Dora Country Club. Now is not even listed as a cemetery but as the property of the Mount Dora Country Club Homeowners Association.
The legend here says that late a night you can often hear the crying of a woman wandering around the now wooded place, or see a greenish light floating around towards a huge tree with long thick horizontal limbs close to the green. The place is unnaturally quiet if you pay close attention.
This used to be a cemetery and the last burials documented date back to the 1940's. There a few remaining metal marker with the names still readable. The most prominent is a big headstone for "Annie Chapman" buried there in 1941. Perhaps the crying woman?
There are very few other markers left, but most can be found under the vegetation overgrowth. Very little is known about the place, but if you dare to go in, you will find a macabre experience and help our efforts to rescue abandoned cemeteries.
